Fixes for Google Places Rejection - Needs Action
If you are using google places and are seeing 'this listing was rejected because it does not meet quality guidelines' and needs action, I've found something they wouldn't tell me.
In my case, I had a places listing for Joe's Transmission Shop. Google removed with absolutely no explanation or assistance. All they did was refer me to a forum that they didn't even moderate. I did find a few things that helped me, after sifting through endless complaints.
It turned out that Joe's shop had an 'inc.' after the name. I changed the name in places and days later I was back in google maps with the active stamp of approval. This was a problem I had on a few accounts. They all were fixed by adding the 'inc.' Make sure your places name matches what the company goes by in the legal world. This includes LLC, Ltd., Inc., etc.
I still had one account that didn't have any of those prefixes. That account had a word in the description on places that was also included in the name of account. I removed the duplicate word from the description and the account became active again.
I also had a couple of sites I ran from my address. At one time this was ok to do. That is no longer the case. So if you are using the same physical address for more than one website, decide your priorities. You have to show a different address for each site you make an account for on google places. So... do what you got to do. I used a public place address since one site was for the town I live in and used my cell phone to get the pin number. If you are having to use the snail-mail route, there is a problem, like this, that needs to be resolved.
If you see 'pending' on your places page, all you can do is wait for google to get around to looking at your changes. This could be a week to 10 days, possibly more, just be patient.
